nailed it: how to pamper your nails

Do you like pretty nails? We do. We have worked on growing and pampering them for ages and we have found some products we love and want you to know about them, too. (see... nails still looking good after painting a bedroom!)

Zoya polish is a phoodmoose favorite. It’s been awarded as the longest wearing natural nail polish by an independent panel in Women’s Health Magazine, and is free of toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and DBP. There are now over 400 colors!! I can get at least a week, if not 10 days, from a home manicure.

When your nails need a little extra love in the dry winter months or after weeks of harsh polishes, treatments and remover use, ella + mila nail strengthener is amazing. It goes on like clear polish, smells like candy, and protects and hardens your nails like nobody's business. Your nails will thank you for the extra support!

I learned about Dazzle Dry at my local salon, Misheel Nail Spa, where I go when I need a mani/pedi to look amazing. Mike is my favorite and really gets in there and works on my feet to make them beautiful again. Anywhoo, he asked if I wanted a fast drying top coat on my nails. The sign said "organic," so I'm sold. Dang, if it did not last 12 full days. I really had to take it off because my nails were growing out so well, the polish looked wonky. I even added a swipe of gold along my cuticles to pretty it up a bit while it grew out.

After that mani/pedi, I got my own Dazzle Dry system. It's been awesome to be able to get salon length of wear with home application. Use this link for 20% off your first order.

If you are in the CO Springs area, check out Bare Feet Spa! They are an AMAZING group up of ladies that focus on healthy and natural nail and body treatments. We've raved about them before on the podcast, but you really do need to try a service to really see how the magic happens.

They use things like lemons to soften cuticles, sugar to scrub calluses, real herbs and essential oils in the copper pot foot soaks, and coconut or olive oil to moisturize dry Colorado skin. PLUS... they use Zoya polishes... and you know how much we love us some Zoya!!

They also offer natural services for waxing, sugaring, facials and other body treatments... all with pampering in mind. Check them out and tell them we sent you!

Whether you head to the spa or DIY your tips and toes, please use some cuticle oil to set your polish and moisturize your nails. There are tons of options out there from the brands we have listed here and you can even use regular old almond oil or apricot oil. Just use your oils to support your skin and nails every day.

Now, removing all that polish needs to be considered as well. Mineral Fusion Polish Remover is a favorite of ours. It's gentle, non-acetone removes even tough polish without drying out or damaging your nails. Mineral Fusion products contain natural ingredients & their products are free of gluten, parabens, talc, artificial colors, synthetic fragrances, SLS & phthalates. All good things!

I went off the rails recently and used:

  • a coat of ella + mila nail strengthener

  • a coat of a light, sheer Zoya polish and then

  • the Dazzle Dry top coat

My nails were so strong, they could have been registered as weapons. After removing the products with my gentle polish a week later, my nails were still strong and felt great. Not dry at all! This might be my new "go to" weekly nail care regime. Beautiful, strong, long lasting polished nails? Who doesn't want that??
